Community consultation begins on Kimba Youth Activity Park

Kimba residents asked to have their say on proposed skate park

Kimba Skate Park plan

The District Council of Kimba is seeking community feedback on a proposal to construct a youth skate and activity park adjacent to the existing playground equipment at Lions Apex Central Park. Through the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility Community Benefit Program, Council was successful in receiving funding to have concept plans created, the draft of which are now available for comment.

There is currently no budget allocation for the project were it to receive Council approval, meaning Council would need to seek grant funding, take out a loan, or draw down on cash reserves to finance it.

It is anticipated that stage one of the project will cost $247,905 + GST, with an additional $83,000 + GST required to landscape the facility. Future stages of the project are expected to cost $479,000 + GST. Ongoing maintenance and depreciation costs for stage one have been estimated at $20,000 to $25,000 per annum.

Copies of the Kimba Youth Activity Park are available at the Council office, or can be downloaded here Kimba Youth Activity Park Draft Concept Design January 2019(15637 kb).

Community consultation finishes as 5pm on 6 February 2019, so make sure you have your say by completing our three-minute survey.
